DJ KEVIN NICHOLS

Kevin Nichols had been in the mobile disc jockey business for almost 2 years before he and Dan joined forces as "The Boogie Brothers" (a name their mother said in passing that just sort of stuck). He is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University's Business School. "Hi, I am 33 years old, which helps as many of the brides and grooms fall within a few years of my age. I was deejaying for nearly two years on my own before Dan asked me to join him. I was very fortunate as he kept me busy when I first started out. This was an advantage seeing as how it takes a while to get your name out. I like dealing with people and that is why the disc jockey business has worked out so well. I love seeing people have a good time. I like to get an understanding of exactly what you want from me. I make sure everything is taken care of so you have nothing to worry about. Working closely with my clients ensures the evening goes perfect. I play a wide variety of music tailored to your crowd, since every crowd is different the music I play always changes. I'm not the guy who has a comment for everything nor will I act like a cheese ball. I will add class to the evening while picking up the pace when the time is right.

"If you're looking for professional dj entertainment in Michigan, you have come to the right place."  Kevin is often referred to as "The Mayor" in his hometown of Royal Oak, because he knows so many people.  Brother Dan quips, "people just like him, he has that personality. I'd like to say I taught him these social graces but I take notes from him.

DJ CHRIS
Christopher Dean started to DJ in 1999 while attending Oakland University and quickly began getting requests from friends to provide the music for their Michigan weddings and graduation parties. During this time Chris was also building a following DJing local house parties and hosted a weekly two hour radio show on WXOU 88.3FM. To gain even more experience in 2001 he sought out a large national mobile disc jockey company in Michigan and went to work fine tuning his MC and mixing skills. The company kept him busy DJing weddings all over Southeast Michigan and helped him accumulate a massive library of music. When business slowed down in the winter months he began to DJ at a local club in between the wedding season. Chris was scouted out by the Boogie Brothers in 2003 after they heard friends talk about what a great job he did at a wedding reception that spring. They knew his experience at the club end coupled with working weddings made for a real unique mix of talents. I'm glad to be a part of the team Kevin and Dan have here at Boogie Brothers because they represent quality entertainment and more importantly they told me from the beginning when they scouted me out that they did so because of my "no cheese" presentation. In my mind the brides visiting this site have essentially entered a boutique where they only have the very best to choose from. The larger company I worked for years ago was like a DJ factory hiring and sending out numerous inexperienced kids. Boogie Brothers Productions is so much more professional and takes the extra time to really listen to each clients specific needs. We thoroughly go over all the details of the special day prior to, so things are smooth and the way you want them the night of. I hope Boogie Brother's continues to stay small and I'm excited to be part of a group that sets the bar so high for the mobile disc jockey industry.
NOTE RE: CHRIS - We met Chris at a friends wedding. It was a fluke because he happened to be just what we've been looking for over the last 14 years. A guy that fit our style of delivery, didn't yap on the microphone all night, wasn't cheesy, kept the party going and liked what he did. AND... a guy that was too busy with school and work to build a dj calendar. He's a great fit and one of very very very few guys we'll put our stamp of approval on. Just an FYI - he's working on his MBA at Walsh right now.

DJ DAN NICHOLS
Dan Nichols has been in the mobile disc jockey business for 18 years.  A University of Michigan Graduate that decided while still in college he would continue in the mobile entertainment field.  Dan's main source of business is through referrals from other professionals in his field; photograpers, florists and hotels/banquet facilities. When asked what qualities he deems important in a mobile dj, he responds, "Clients interestingly ask a similar question.  My answer is, the dj must walk a fine line between being interactive yet not abrasive. He or she must have an understanding of all different eras of music to see to it that everyone, whether they are 9 or 90 has a good time. Also, and more importantly, a dj must keep an open mind musically. No 2 events are ever exactly the same and when they are treated with a cookie cutter recipe, the absence of creativity and spontaneity diminish; the end result is same ole same ole with nothing different or sensational. Many deejays have been playing the same music for the last 2 decades - they have not evolved. As it relates to weddings, I firmly believe a dj must do more than just "spin tunes"."  Dan as well as his brother Kevin and DJ Chris are sure to cover all the little details including getting the necessary people together for various dances, checking to be sure the champagne glasses are filled before a toast is called, making important announcements throughout the wedding reception (or corporate event) and more. These little details add up to the professional show they aim to deliver. Half the effort is in the behind the scenes stuff.  It is the difference between chaos and calm. Dan says, "there are plenty of companies making all sorts of claims but the truth is, I own this craft and it wasn't until I was in it for 10 plus years that I could say that. Most guys don't even last 4 or 5 years from start to finish. That confidence comes from experience."
